Howto identify version ?

Sometimes we download source from https://github.com/synopse/mORMot/commits/master

My question is how can I identify the version ?
Assume I get the latest version 2 months ago.
Then I want to say:

Hi I use version x.y.z and have this problem etc.

Then is there any stable branch beside the master ?
Sometimes that feels more safe even if I don't get the latest bugfixes and features.
