backbone.js

A very nice, lightweight, framework we are looking is backbone.js (http://backbonejs.org/).

As soon as I get time for it. I will try to connect backbone.js models with a mORMot RESTful server. It looks like a perfect combination.

Here is a nice basic backbone.js tutorial which uses a RESTful server.
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/html5/artic … r-pt1.html

I would like to know if there is any efforts on this path.

Re: backbone.js

I had a brief look as well and it all looks very possible but I haven't done anything. There's another project which incorporates a javascript grid into backbone which could be worth a look: http://teleological.github.com/slickback/

Re: backbone.js

No, I did not have time to play with it.
Currently, for the AJAX point of view, I'm using Smart - see http://smartmobilestudio.com/
It is not free, but working very well, for a pure client-side application, able to create not only AJAX apps, but also stand-alone apps.

I'm not sure I'll have time trying backbone.js soon.
If you have any feedback, it would be interesting.

Re: backbone.js

hi ab,
now im just looking for in freetime, but only for future use...now i haven't time to try backbone.js and smart studio.
But im oriented to a free framework until the benefits of an expensive framework its very big than a free framework.
For you, what are the benefits to choice smartstudio?

Re: backbone.js

Smart Mobile Studio will be a comercial product? If so, then I think that Unigui is a better and more mature library for developing javascript/ajax applications with Delphi/Object Pascal.

Re: backbone.js

Emanuele, today Unigui is free, closed source. I think that Farshad will charge for the source code in the future.

I don't have used Unigui with mormot yet.

Re: backbone.js

I don't know. Farshad is not charging until now. I think that he will charge for the source code in the future.

Re: backbone.js

but this is not clear.
when you try to download the license page tell that beta version is for evaluation purpose. In the forum Farshad tell that there isn't limitation about developer commercial software with unigui beta version. This is a contradiction.
Who tell me that when the license terms of unigui will be final Farshad will charge or i must retire my software developer with unigui?
i'll have to make a choice, luckily not now, but when will be i hope that the situation is more clear!
if you have news tell me please!
thanks,
Emanuele
